Gerchen Keller likely litigation funder behind $2 billion failed patent case

12th May 2017

A $2 billion patent suit against Intel Corporation that was backed by a third party litigation funder was “shut down” this week after the jury found that Intel had not infringed on the patent at issue reports The American Lawyer.

“All signs point to Gerchen Keller Capital” as the funder in the case.

In 2016, Gerchen Keller Capital was acquired by London-based third party litigation funder Burford Capital Ltd. to form the largest litigation funding firm in the world.

“The case offers a glimpse of the kinds of legal matters that litigation funders are investing in, and how they can sometimes go south” notes the article.
